Lemon and Poppy Seed Cake

Pan de limón con semillas de amapola

In this moving drama set on the stunning island of Mallorca, two separated sisters reunite to sell a bakery they have inherited from a mysterious woman they know nothing about.

Anna (Eva Martín) and Marina (Elia Galera) are estranged sisters who have not seen each other for many years and have led very different lives. While Anna has barely left the island and is unhappily married to a man she no longer loves, Marina travels the world working as a doctor for an NGO. As the sisters try to uncover the secrets hidden behind their enigmatic benefactor and her property, they are forced to confront old family disputes and make up for lost time.

Directed by Benito Zambrano (Out in the Open) and adapted from Cristina Campos’ eponymous best-selling novel, Lemon and Poppy Seed Cake is a heartwarming story about friendship, motherhood, hidden secrets and forgotten recipes. But above all, it is a story about women who learn to decide, with freedom, about their future.
