Forgotten We'll Be

El olvido que seremos

From award-winning director Fernando Trueba (Belle Époque), Forgotten We’ll Be portrays the life of Héctor Abad Gómez, a prominent doctor and human rights activist, set in the polarised, violent Colombia of the 1970s. Starring Javier Cámara (Truman), this tender family drama tells the story of a man torn between the love of his family and his political fight.

Gómez’s home was imbued with vitality and creativity, the result of an education based on tolerance and love. Devoted to the social and political causes of the time, with particular concerns for his own children and the underprivileged classes, Medellin’s intolerant society would harass him until he was finally silenced.

Adapted from prominent Colombian author Héctor Abad Faciolince’s memoir about his father, this is an intimate story seen through the eyes of Gómez’s only son. Shifting between the personal to the political, this warm and affecting film is a vivid portrait of an intelligent, principled and kind man, featuring a wonderful performance from Javier Cámara.
